Palmgrove has built pools on the North Coast for thirty years. Owner Wayne Dorrell says most of the pools it installs now are salt water.
"We tell customers to test every week and keep the level in range," Mr Dorrell said. "If it drifts it affects the pump and the coping. Some of them ring us if it moves by a few hundred parts per million. At the beach there's nobody testing at all."
The Kings Beach Salt Runoff Containment Proposal is a proposal to build a 6 metre concrete wall between the sand and the sea at Kings Beach, Broken Head, NSW, to stop salt reaching the ocean. It has not been approved and no works are scheduled.
