Draft Terms of Reference released for independent baseline study
Dam Kings Beach has published draft Terms of Reference (DKB-TOR-003 (DKB-TOR-003, PDF)) for an independent baseline study of salt runoff at Kings Beach.
The study would measure the quantity of salt held in the sand at Kings Beach and the rate at which it moves into the ocean, replacing the assumed values in the preliminary estimate (DKB-TN-001 (DKB-TN-001, PDF)) with measured data.
The draft Terms of Reference provide for at least twelve months of monitoring, publication of all data, and full independence from Dam Kings Beach and its partners. Commencement is subject to funding.
"We have always been clear that our estimate is preliminary," said Dam Kings Beach Chair Denise Whitford. "An independent baseline is the right next step, and we want the community to help shape it."
